The Best in Homes

This month, we recognized those in the community who excel at what they do in the inaugural Bestie Awards. Based on the votes of our readers, we gave (symbolic) crowns to more than 100 individuals, businesses and organizations. As the winner of Best Real Estate Agent, Terri Bass feels incredibly thankful for the acknowledgment and looks forward to what the next year has in store..

Pride at the Museum

For more than 10 years, the LGBT Center at the University of Louisville has provided support, educational resources and advocacy to UofL students and the community at large. Each day, the staff works to strengthen and sustain an inclusive campus community and welcome people of all sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions.

Prestigious Properties: 1434 Cherokee Road

Built in 1913, all of the amazing workmanship that was customary of the fine homes built along Cherokee Park during that time is still present and beautifully preserved in this historic home. The design elements include intricate inlaid herringbone hardwood floors, unique coffered ceilings, massive pocket doors, leaded glass-stained windows and elaborate moldings and millwork throughout.

A Home with Heart

On Feb. 28, a small group of people came together to celebrate a very large gift. Thanks to the generosity of the late Maurice Brown and Joe Brandt, Boys & Girls Haven has received a donation of $632,027.42 that will go toward serving some of the city’s neediest children. Brown and Brandt shared a home at 1304 Cherokee Road and upon their passing wanted the proceeds of the home’s sale to go directly to Boys & Girls Haven.

How you know you've found a winning team

I spent my first three years in real estate at a small, boutique agency. But when Sotheby’s International Realty came to the Louisville market, I immediately knew that was where I wanted to be.

This Glenview home is custom-built for aging-in-place and entertaining

Gracie meows and pitter-patters about, looking for someone to stroke her light gray fur. Terri and Steve Bass give her and their other rescue cat, Milo, free reign of almost every inch in this 6,900-square-foot home in the Glenview neighborhood of Louisville.
